Our Process

The quality and high standards of our tropical fruits are based on strict work processes at all stages, the use of the most advanced agro-industrial technology and specialized transportation infrastructure for perishable products.

One of the best agricultural practices we have is pollination through bees in all our fields, since we have natural honey production and this naturally attracts bees.

1. Sowing

Our team of agronomists and field workers pay attention to all the details involved in planting the fruit, including:

  • planting in rainy season
  • soil analysis and crop density
  • distances in furrows
  • irrigation systems
  • cutting and pruning plans
  • fertilizer application
  • phytosanitary studies and weed control, complying with EPA and FDA standards.

2. Harvest

We pay special attention to two key harvesting moments:

  • the exact moment to cut the fruit
  • handling, loading and delivery of fruit from the field to the packinghouse

3. Selection

The packing plant staff assures the quality of the fruit, evaluating in detail the following elements in each piece:

  • color
  • size and weight
  • shape and firmness
  • shell condition and appearance
  • degree of maturity
  • that does not carry pests

4. Washing

After selecting the fruit, it is placed on the automatic conveyors that move the fruit to be washed by hand with the support of water pressure systems. The fruit is then left to dry before being packed.

5. Packaging

We pack fruit in 5 lb. boxes specially designed for tropical fruits. We can also pack in 1 lb. clamshell boxes. During this process we use a bar code system that stores important product information. We then assemble pallets with either 154 or 165 5 lb. boxes. The pallets are made of treated wood, according to Global GAP standards.

6. Transportation

Our plant is located 3 hours from La Aurora international airport. We transport the fruit in refrigerated trucks at a temperature of 52º F, which is maintained in the airplanes where the fruit is shipped.
